After more than a decade spent working in digital marketing and copywriting, I enrolled in Massachusetts College of Art and Design's Communication Design certificate program to expand my design fluency as I pursue a career in creative direction.
Below you’ll find featured works I’ve created within this program. Enjoy!
Massart - fall 2025
Class: Foundations of Graphic Design
Assignment: Object Drawing & Patterns
Subject: Plant Mister Bottle
This project began with the instruction to draw an object by hand. I chose a plant mister. (Why this is in my home despite my talent for killing plants, I do not know.)
We then created several digital versions of our object, vectorized them, and dissected them to create unique, seamless patterns.
Massart - fall 2025
Class: Typography
Assignment: Magazine Feature
Subject: Vivienne Westwood
The task: Create opening and article magazine spreads on a creative or cultural figure of your choosing. I selected fashion icon Vivienne Westwood and focused my design on the dichotomy that is VW’s legacy—one of anarchy and aristocracy.
Massart - WINTER 2026
Class: Graphic Design 1
Assignment: Expressive Poster
Subject: Escaping domestic violence
I went into this assignment blindly—unaware of what we’d be asked to create. We were simply asked to choose a subject or quote of personal importance.
I chose a Terry Tempest Williams quote from the book When Women Were Birds—”Your voice is the wildest thing you own.” This quote has resonated with me for several years—before, but especially after experiencing domestic abuse.
We were tasked with creating a poster that evokes the feeling and expresses the meaning of our chosen subject. My design focused on highlighting the stark differences in life before and after escaping domestic abuse. It also tells a story of my own journey overcoming agoraphobia in the years that followed.
The before—dark, shattered, isolated, and small—gives way to a new world. Soundwaves burst from the doorway, creating an abstract landscape that begins in a swell of chaos and overwhelm, then gradually settles into a serene nature scene. This imagery, paired with a woman facing away from the past, represents the progress of moving forward, even when healing is anything but linear. As the landscape becomes clearer with each wave, it symbolizes the joy of rediscovery—of finding yourself again and the restored ability to see beauty in a world that once frightened you.
Massart - SPRING 2026
Class: Intermediate Typography
Assignment #1: Conceptual Cookbook
Subject: The Last Supper: Recipes Inspired By Death Row
If you knew your next meal would be the last, what would you choose to eat?
For many death row inmates, this is the last decision they’ll ever make.
This recipe collection reimagines actual requests from real-life executed prisoners—served with a side of harrowing true crime.
Massart - SPRING 2026
Class: Intermediate Typography
Assignment #2: Type Designer Museum Exhibit + Supporting Materials
Subject: David Jonathan Ross
This exhibit draws inspiration from inspiration itself—highlighting the variety and intricacies of typography found all around us. From film and TV broadcasts to book covers, restaurant menus, street signs, and even national landmarks, type helps us navigate and forge emotional connections with the world.
Using postcard-like imagery to set the scene, In The Wild employs evocative typography, unexpected glyph usage, and engaging storytelling to invite viewers to immerse themselves in their surroundings.
Massart - SPRING 2026
Class: User Experience (UX) Design
Assignment: App Strategy & MVP Development
Subject: HarborCare
My classmates and I worked together as a team to conceptualize, strategize, and develop a mobile app.
The proof of concept is featured below in the form of a Figma prototype and presentation deck.
I was responsible for creating the Care Provider onboarding experience. I also partnered with a small group of classmates to develop a visual brand identity.
When it came time to build our proof of concept in Figma, I took on an active leadership role, assisting classmates with brand standard implementation, scroll and interaction functionality, and various tasks as needed to keep the team on schedule.
